Hello big, beautiful, scary world!

Once upon a time, a long long time ago, back in the dark ages of middle school, I had a blog.

It was a disaster, so let’s not dwell on the past but instead, look to the future.

What I’m reading this week

Today, at the awful hour of 4AM, I finished the wonderful book, Scythe by Neil Shusterman. Sometimes I stay up to finish a book, but this time my brain was abnormally active. When I couldn’t fall asleep at 1AM, I decided to give in and keep reading.

This book, really, the entire trilogy, came highly recommended to me by an old friend. It might be categorized as a Young Adult since both protagonists are solidly teenagers, but I would recommend it to more mature readers for its writing style and the philosophical aspects.

It's not all dark and heavy, but it's also very clearly not a happy-go-luck read—my perfect cup of tea.

I absolutely recommend it, and I'm eagerly awaiting the sequel from the library.

Scythes wished to be seen as the many faces of light, not of darkness.
— Scythe, Neal Shusterman

I finally did it.

I finally created a website. Took me long enough.

Last year I bought the domain but not the website. I put it off, thinking “oh, I’ll get to it eventually.” However, the release date of All the Promises We Cannot Keep is right around the corner, so it was now or never.

This week alone I’ve probably spent 25 hours. Squarespace isn’t as intuitive as I thought it would be. It also doesn’t have all the functionalities I wanted. Examples: the cream background with rounded corners on this blog post was made through custom CSS coding, as was the gradient from light to dark green.
